(NaturalNews) America is a large country, and it is filled with all kinds of folks. That includes individuals who wind up in trouble with the law for, of all things, helping someone get butt injections.
According to the New York Daily News, Natasha Stewart – a female “adult entertainer” – was convicted of negligent manslaughter recently after a jury disregarded her argument that she was merely trying to help out a friend who wanted silicone buttocks.
The paper said Stewart, from Memphis, Tenn., was found guilty in Jackson, Miss., in the death of 37-year-old Karima Gordon, who was from Atlanta. According to the paper:
Authorities say Stewart, an adult entertainer also known as Pebbelz Da Model, took $200 for a referral to the alleged injector and falsely represented that the injector was a nurse.
Stewart testified Friday that Gordon was insecure about her body and wanted help fixing previously botched buttocks enhancements. Stewart said she connected Gordon with the woman performing the injections to help her out, not for money, but she said Gordon insisted on paying her.
Initially, Stewart had been charged with “depraved-heart” murder, which is defined as “callous disregard for human life” that resulted in death – the maximum sentence for which is life in prison. She had also been charged with conspiracy to commit depraved-heart murder.
‘She told me she was an RN’
Jurors, however, went with the option of convicting Stewart with the lesser charge. The jury also found her guilty of conspiring to commit culpable negligence manslaughter. She will face 20 years in prison for each of those charges, reports said.
Upon sentencing, the Daily News reported that Stewart appeared to show little emotion. She attended her hearing in what looked like an orange wig.
Jurors found her not guilty on charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud, ostensibly in regard to the transfer of payment for “services” rendered.
Reports said Steward testified that she believed the woman performing the injections at a house in Jackson was indeed a registered nurse. She also said she had gotten the injections herself more than 20 times over a seven-year period.
“She told me that she was an RN,” Stewart testified.
However, Patrick Beasley, a prosecutor with Mississippi’s attorney general’s office, said a person would have to be “dumb” to not know that Garner was not a nurse when she used veterinary syringes to inject the silicone, then sealed them with cotton balls and glue.
Prosecutors said Gordon died after experiencing a silicone embolism in her lung about a week after getting the injections in March 2012.
They wanted to be hip-hop models
Tracy Lynn Garner is the one suspected of actually administering the injections; she was charged with depraved-heart murder in the deaths of Gordon and one other woman, Marilyn Hale of Selma, Ala. She has pleaded not guilty; her trial is scheduled for March.
Emails introduced in court as evidence in the case show that Gordon was a fan of Stewart and had been persistent in asking her for help getting buttocks injections beginning in 2010.
“I won’t give up my mission to ultimately have a tastefully great butt enhancement,” Gordon wrote in an email.
Gordon’s friend, Anglean Barber, testified in court that she and Gordon took a plane to New York to meet Stewart at a Queens club where Stewart was hosting a party in February 2012. She said Stewart later referred them to Garner.
Barber said she and Gordon wanted a buttocks enhancement treatment similar to what Stewart had gotten over the years, because they both wanted to become models in the hip-hop industry.
